Basic Info
Name:Major Evan Lorne [Stargate: Atlantis]
Bio
"Actually, I skipped that course in Major school."

Major Evan Lorne

Evan Lorne is a US Air Force Major and the highest-ranked officer in Atlantis after Lieutenant Colonel John Sheppard. He joined the Atlantis Expedition during its second year of operation.

Prior to that he was working with the SGC on Earth. He was a member of SG-11 and the team's second in command to Colonel Edwards at the naquadah mining operation on the planet P3X-403. Although he knew of the standard procedure to inform Dr. Daniel Jackson immediately upon finding archaeological artifacts, he failed to do so on this planet and, as a result, he might have been indirectly responsible for the death of his teammate, Lt. Ritter. Ritter was attacked and killed by an Unas, evidence for whose presence on the planet was in the artifacts he had discovered, moved, and ignored.

On Atlantis, Lorne leads his own off-world team and is often looked upon as the military leader when Lt. Col. John Sheppard is not available. He is currently second in command of the military detachment of the expedition, assuming the role originally held by Major John Sheppard before the untimely death of Colonel Sumner.

His SG team seems to have much more of a military function than Sheppard's and is often tasked with protecting scientists and diplomats. His team is also often called to back up Sheppard's team when they need more of a military force.
Personality

Lorne is described as "that sort of faithful, loyal guy that everybody kind of knows", representing a "steady constant".

The actor describes him as someone with "an acerbic sense of humor. I think he's relatively intelligent. I think that he's a problem-solver. They bring him in to help out. Generally if Sheppard goes off-world or something like that they bring in Lorne to help with the military aspect of things. So I kind of read into that that he's a bit of a problem-solver, that maybe he's the next to step up to some sort of command. They had me on the Pegasus the other day working on that.

I think he's a bit of a problem solver, a bit of a smart-ass. Smart. Funny. As far as family goes, no idea. We'll see what happens. I don't want to think too much, because if they say I'm gay I don't want to mess that up. Anyway."
